Tract housing, Saudi style

This group of villas was under construction with an ugly barrier in front of them, which I just had to cut out. Considering the vast amount of desert in and around Riyadh, it seemed odd to me that the homes were built so close together.

Another gallery I never finished was this one, of palatial residences in Riyadh. Not every Saudi lives in a palace, although some do and many come pretty close. They all have gates, some of which appear in “The Gates of Riyadh” gallery, too, but in these I tried to show more of the houses to give an idea of how people live there. I must add that our house in Riyadh was nothing like any of these ;-).

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.

Much different than tracts here. Still secretive looking. V

Very interesting to see this after shots of the huge palatial homes. V

Yup, they definitely look like clones. So interesting to see how folks in other parts of the world live.

Superbly composed Helen! These 'tiny' houses look great and I like the repetitions! V

They have a nice look about them and seem that they will maintenance free on the exterior.
Nice sharp shot and very nice straight on composition level and plumb.
