Deoksugung is a walled compound of palaces in Seoul that was inhabited by members of Korea's royal family during the Joseon monarchy until the annexation of Korea by Japan in 1910. It is one of the "Five Grand Palaces" built by the kings of the Joseon Dynasty.
This building is known as Hamnyeongjeon Hall, which was the sleeping residence of King Gojong when he moved from the Russian Legation back to Deoksugung Palace in 1897. Gojong also died at this location in 1919 at the age of 66. In 1904, the hall was destroyed by fire and was rebuilt that same year.
Best to view in "Original" or “Auto” because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.
