I saw a National Park Service Ranger walking up our street last night and stopped him to ask about the alarming algae situation at Constitution Gardens. He said they were aware of it and that a superintendent had actually gone to inspect it earlier in the day (maybe they got my email after all!). He said some algae is normal but that there was far too much on the surface of the lake and that it could ultimately deprive the fish in the lake of oxygen. I was relieved to hear that action would be taken and (finally) let him go on his way. I had never seen him before, but he was very friendly and knowledgeable, just the right person to run into on the street!
