The riders came in waves that went on forever. It was only between the waves that you could get across the street for a different vantage point, or even just to leave.

We went down to the Mall to see the final ride through Washington of Rolling Thunder, an advocacy group that seeks to bring full accountability for prisoners of war and missing in action service members of all US wars. The group's first demonstration was in 1988, and today -- with hundreds of thousands of participants -- was the last, due to what the group says are rising costs and "increased harassment" from the Pentagon. I'll be sad to see this 31-year tradition end.
