More than just a leaf

Tim and I both saw the heron dive for something (from different perspectives), and we both thought he had come up with only a leaf. It wasn’t until I processed this that I realized he had caught a small meal as well.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.

*****

I imagine my Pbase friends must be sick of seeing this heron by now ;-), but we keep returning to Constitution Gardens to see how he’s doing, and if he’s even still there given the snow, sub-zero wind-chill temperatures and downright Polar weather we’ve been having over the past few weeks.

So back we went on Sunday and didn’t see him anywhere, not on the little island where he usually sits and not in the frozen part of the lake. Suddenly, we saw him standing next to a low footbridge, near a group of people who were oblivious to him. We went over there, and it turned out, he was oblivious to us, too, because I was standing about six feet from him when I took a series of pictures.

Not sick of seeing the heron at all! Keep on posting shots of it. It is a beautiful bird and I am hoping it can survive the winter until spring rolls around. Super catch here, for both of you. V
