Another kitchen in the church conversion, the nicest of all. That window on the left was gorgeous, although the kitchens themselves were exactly the same in all six units. This unit is 4 bedrooms, 4.5 baths, 2,546 square feet and priced at only $2.5 million.

The Eastern Presbyterian Church was built in 1891 on Maryland Avenue NE, across from Stanton Park. The church was sold in 1956 and since then has housed various religious congregations. It has now been converted into six luxury condos that range in size from 2,293 to 2,765 square feet (with 2, 3 or 4 bedrooms) and in price from $2.4 million to $2.8 million. Each unit has an elevator as they are all arranged vertically, with three floors each.
The original stained glass windows have been refurbished and are stunning, and some of the architectural features of the church have been incorporated in the condo interiors, but in all honesty, I felt the workmanship to be shockingly shoddy and the appointments cheap. Some of the so-called bedrooms were oddly and impractically shaped, and several had absolutely no windows, while many were located on the basement floor, allowing passersby to easily look in.
Even if I were able to afford a close to $3 million condo, I’d never buy one of these units.
