Mystery bloom no longer a mystery

Tim was able to take this from above the mystery flower, which is no longer a mystery since Lynn identified it as a Datura, called Purple Devil's Trumpet and from the same family as the Moon Lily.

*****

We returned once again to the Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens, the home of Marjorie Merriweather Post, legendary heiress of General Foods, diplomat, philanthropist and distinguished collector of French and Russian art and jewelry. We wanted to see a Fabergé exhibit going on there and also enjoyed walking through the grounds and hothouse to and from.

What a gorgeous exotic bloom. Love that insects have mostly let the flower alone, but not the leaves!
