The main house didn’t have many flowers in front, but I was intrigued by the shadow of the weathervane. When I went to take a picture a few seconds later with my other camera, the wind had blown the eagle around and the perfect shadow was gone.

Although we've been here several times before, we decided to make a spring visit Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens, the home of Marjorie Merriweather Post, legendary heiress of General Foods, diplomat, philanthropist and distinguished collector of French and Russian art and jewelry. We were there just slightly past peak for some of its many azaleas and rhododendrons, but still the grounds were lovely at this time of year.
