Red-tailed hawk high above Fort Washington

Not a very good capture, but I wanted to post some evidence of the effort Tim and I made to get at least one shot of eight hawks and bald eagles circling high above us at Fort Washington, on the Maryland side the Potomac River.

They were way too far away for my 400mm lens, let alone my 24-70 ;-), but what a thrill it was watching them. We were told by a park ranger that they live on the grounds of another national park down the road, so next time we’ll head there and hopefully find them a bit closer to earth.

Thanks to Tom Munson for the ID of this as a red tailed hawk, which believe it or not, was my guess.

These Red Tailed Hawks are high flyers for sure. I like how the red came out in the image.
