We took a drive out to Great Falls Park, a national park only about 15 miles up the Potomac from Washington on the Virginia side. It was a bit late in the day when we went, but we had a few hours to hike around in the beautiful natural setting and enjoy the falls, Aqueduct Dam and a number of geese and ducks.
A view of the Washington Monument from the George Washington Parkway, on the way to Great Falls. I should have used a long lens, but if I had been carrying that, it would have been a real disaster since I slipped down the last part of an incline to get to this view, dropping my camera and grazing my arm. I was more concerned about my D810 than me but discovered back in the car that my arm was bleeding. Tim has a ready supply of bandaids for me since I always manage to do things like this, so after patching me up, we proceeded on our way to the national park.
