The ubiquitous hibiscus, Yaeyama Islands

I have finally come to the end of my pictures for this long-overdue gallery. I can’t even imagine why I only put nine of them in my main Okinawa gallery in 2003; I have included 60 images here! I guess I really should review the main gallery to see what else I left out (a lot, I fear).

Thanks so much for all the kind comments and votes for the gallery! I have enjoyed going through these old pictures and reliving our time spent in the beautiful Yaeyama Islands – very different from what one usually imagines Japan to be like.

Beautiful! It looks like the wind blew the petals back from the outward thrust of the long stamen!

First time for me to see a white hibiscus. The light on the flower is beautiful.
