There is only one village on Taketomi Island, with traditional Okinawan architecture, beautiful beaches, stone walls, sand streets and transportation by water buffalo-drawn carts. It had a population of 323 as of January 2012.
This man is playing a sanshin, a traditional Okinawan stringed instrument, to entertain the passengers in the water buffalo-drawn cart (see two previous pictures).
