Al Khor Mosque, minaret

This beautiful mosque, commonly known as the "Mosque of the Family" in reference to the royal family of Oman, was located in old Muscat and unlike most, was open to non-Muslims certain hours of the day, Saturday-Thursday. Unfortunately, we were there at the wrong time and never managed to get back when it was open.

Blue mosque, mihrab, posted earlier:

This is so beautiful I could look at it for a long time. The colour especially appeals, but the shape and the intricate patterns are especially beautiful. V

What a beautiful minaret - I was wondering about the muezzin getting up there too ?? I like how you've composed the shot with the fort in the bg. V

intriguing minaret...wonder how a muezzin gets up there to call the faithful to prayer...odd you should have such internet problems in DC, apparently the power centre of the planet..
