We spent a few days on the Oregon coast, driving from Portland to Lincoln City, up to Astoria and back along the Columbia River. Nothing spectacular, but a pleasant and relaxing time was had by all (Tim, me, my mother-in-law and Sahraa).

Sahraa had never seen the ocean before; this was her first encounter with it at Lincoln City, on an incredibly windy day (to the extent that sand was blowing over the beach, reminiscent of Saudi Arabia). She didn’t think much of the water here (and in fact jumped into the air after this was shot), but at our next stop in Seaside, she walked right in on her own.
