Sahraa and the movers

This whole moving thing is very hard on Sahraa – everything familiar is being packed up, and she insists on watching the packers instead of hiding upstairs. For a while she was out in the garden, where she dug several new holes, but it’s so hot outside she finally came in to supervise again.

She has gone through this several times before, in Washington and in Budapest, so she knows what’s coming. I’m terribly worried about the trip for her this time – from Riyadh in extremely hot weather, even in the middle of the night, to Frankfurt to DC for two days’ rest (for her), to Portland and back to Washington. It’s a lot to put her through, but there’s no way around it unless we decide to put her in a kennel in Washington for three weeks, which would probably make her more unhappy than the two cross-country flights.

Not a great picture with my iPhone, one of several I might post, but you get the general mood here.

Oh, poor girl. You really captured her mood. I will be thinking cooling throughts for her as you travel. Be safe pretty Sahraa!

It must be very confusing to her. I agree that dogs and cats are like our babies and we want them to be happy. V

She looks depressed. I'm sure your move is stressful enough without worrying about the dog's emotional health... but you know, we all love our pets and want them to be safe and happy. Too bad we can't sit down and talk to them to reassure them. V

She really looks so sad...

Oh my! I know that look. When Ricky was alive we'd drop him off at the kennel the afternoon before we were going away, leaving the packing for after he was dropped off.

I am sure it is hard on her but she will get through it..

You can bring Sahraa here, we will take good care of her, we got bones and all kind of dog food, she will enjoy, and so will we.

She will make it, She is flexible.

Oh poor Sahraa :-(

iPhones are great for impromptu people/pet captures. This sums up Sahraa's angst very nicely.

oh dear! Make sure she hasn't stowed away in the trunk (I think you call what we call the boot) of your car when it is about to be shipped. Our last dog always thought that was the place to go when he detected signs of departure
