'For families only'

I don't know if I can adequately explain just how interesting this scene was, but I’ll try. Some places have “Family only” cashiers, where only women or women with a male relative can check out. This supermarket had a large number of family only check-outs, and every single one with a female cashier (quite unusual and encouraging). But they also had something I’ve never seen before: a screen barring them and their customers from the bagger, who of course is always a man. This capture was very difficult to get, even with my cell phone, but I hope the explanation conveys this most unusual setup. Visible is the cashier at right, customers at left, and the bagger behind the barrier, which has a sign saying “For families only.”

The scenario you describe reminds me of the Segregationist South from our troubled history. I have far too liberal views and would never be happy in that type of society. Thanks for explaining the scene.

I was going to say it is very bizarre. It seems much different than the women buying items at the festivals you have posted earlier. The separation of the sexes is something so foreign to what I have experienced. V

top notch shot...this seems a somewhat bizarre and complex setup for simply buying groceries...
