A big departure

A totally different kind of building from the others I’ve photographed, but I have seen examples of this here and there. Perhaps it was the “new” architectural style at one time!

I’m uploading the remaining pictures from last week’s outing fairly quickly as I’d like to move on to yesterday’s captures. I decided rather than take a complete break from this gallery right now, despite the overabundance of architectural shots, I’d compromise and continue with my most recent favorites and try to find some pictures other than buildings (!) as well.

I’m greatly enjoying these drives around Riyadh looking for innovative architecture, but I got in trouble today with the foot surgeon for overdoing it yesterday as I was navigating some pretty rough terrain (on crutches) to get pictures of the new financial center. In the end, it probably wasn’t worth the risk as that place is close to impossible to photograph well with all the barriers and fences in the way. He did think my broken toe was coming along nicely but won’t be removing the wire he inserted into it for six to eight weeks, so looks like I’ll be somewhat incapacitated for a while to come. So much for going back to Qatar any time soon ☹.

It is actually quite classic and beautiful.

Certainly breaks the pattern -I wonder if the City has a word into the colouring of the buildings ? Nicely captured Helen.
PS Sorry to hear you're going to be wheel chairing for a while yet :(

Excellent perspective. The composition with the inclusion of the road and car is very nice. V
