I must admit that I didn’t have a clue how dates were grown before I moved to Saudi Arabia. I remember asking Tim what those gold things on the palm trees were!
Riyadh is not a prime date producing area like Qassim is, so I don’t know if many of the dates here are harvested, although some are as I have seen them encased in mesh in the DQ. Usually, they just fall on the ground and stay there until somebody comes to clean them up after I have walked on them.
