Sahraa learns to swim (1)

Just posting a series of five Sahraa pictures because some people have asked why they haven’t seen many of her lately. Normally, she hates to be photographed, but she doesn’t seem to mind this Sony camera, which replaced the one that got drowned in Morocco (although I don’t think the IQ is as good as with the first one).

We drove to an area on the border of the DQ that is sort of wild, with lots of palm trees and this large pond. Sahraa jumped in, probably thinking it was like a fountain, except it was pretty deep, so for the first time in her life she had to swim. Then she couldn’t get out without Tim’s help because there was nothing but the rocks to climb up on. I figured she would never go near a fountain again, but a short time later she waded in and cleaned off her feet.

She must have enjoyed her dip for her to go back in. Lovely candid Helen.

What a lovely shot of the swimming Sahraa! I can see it would be tough for her to get up on those rocks, but I bet she appreciated cooling off. V
