The butcher

I don’t want to be overly gruesome since I adore camels, but it is what it is. Luckily we encountered camel meat on a menu only once during our two-week tour. Good thing I looked up the translation of the French before ordering!

An abundance of escargot, posted earlier:

It is hard to see, but everything in the US is sanitized so people don't think about where the food comes from. I too like the boy in the corner with his knowing gaze. V

Wonder if the sausages are camel meat, too? No different to horsemeat in France, though. (I love the eyes in the bottom left corner, well caught.) V.

Different country different "things". It's the way it is.

Couldn't help laughing at the idea of buying a camel's head - no supermarket anonymity here !! V

Camels are for them like cows or horses to us. I once visited amarket in Mongolia where they were seperating half a camel. Could not take a picture because it looks gruesome indeed.

Well, that is not something I see everyday, or anyday come to that.

downright visceral...not so much for the slabs of meat, or garland of sausages, as for the severed head...the little lad's sobering gaze is arresting...V
