Well, we don’t have a tree or lights, but that isn’t really the most important thing about the holidays, although I do have a couple of reminders here and there which are a bit hard to see ;-).
I rarely post pictures of the inside of our house in Riyadh, but for anybody who is interested, we are a real Foreign Service family: Picture on left is by a Native American artist; the middle ones are contemporary Japanese works; the two on the right are very old Japanese woodblock print triptychs of sumo matches from the 19th century; the embroidered pillows are Hungarian; and carpet is Caucasian (purchased when we lived in Turkey). The house is Saudi (leased, not owned by the embassy) and the furniture belongs to the State Department.
