Home sweet home

Well, we don’t have a tree or lights, but that isn’t really the most important thing about the holidays, although I do have a couple of reminders here and there which are a bit hard to see ;-).

I rarely post pictures of the inside of our house in Riyadh, but for anybody who is interested, we are a real Foreign Service family: Picture on left is by a Native American artist; the middle ones are contemporary Japanese works; the two on the right are very old Japanese woodblock print triptychs of sumo matches from the 19th century; the embroidered pillows are Hungarian; and carpet is Caucasian (purchased when we lived in Turkey). The house is Saudi (leased, not owned by the embassy) and the furniture belongs to the State Department.

Another one of several pictures posted earlier today:

It's a beautiful room and I like your seasonal touches.
The embroidered cushions also add to the festive feeling. V

A very inviting looking room, Helen. BTW, Simon Pearce is in Queechee, Vermont, about 70 miles from here. V

A very elegant room - love it. Interesting that the arrangement of the furniture reminds me of the Bedouin entertaining rooms I saw in a couple of museums in Dubai where everyone sits in a square facing each other, except this is off the floor !

As soon as I saw the photo, I noticed the art on all 3 walls. I was about to ask about your artworks when I read the photo caption where you explained them all! The rug is a gorgeous focal point. V

A charmingly cosmopolitan interior. Love the original artwork, each one with a story.V

And I see that the other wall must have a window based upon the reflection in the picture glass. Beautiful turkish carpet. Very nice sitting space.

Neat, Helen. I hope those couches have had some fascinating visitors on them.
