I found this quite an interesting display, although photographing it right in front of checkout wasn’t the easiest thing to do! These turkeys were imported from the United States, but they were halal certified, meaning slaughtered according to Islamic law. I thought it fascinating that the US, which is not a Muslim-majority country, is exporting halal poultry to Saudi Arabia, the heart of Islam. The US does produce some beautiful turkeys; perhaps this part of the world doesn’t. In any case, excellent entrepreneurship!

It is amazing to see brands carried at my local store also being sold a world away. V

It has become more popular in the U.S. as the Muslim populations grow. We have several stores that sell Halal meats here in Sugar Land, Texas. Although, one Halal slaughter house in Houston got in trouble for Health Code violations last month.
