Old house

An old house in Diriyah, which I assume was abandoned. The structure on the right was under some kind of reconstruction, so I hope this one is too.

Another total aside, but last evening Sahraa and I were returning home from our walk when we rounded a corner and she almost collided with a man who was Arab (but not sure if he was Saudi or not). Luckily he wasn’t terrified like so many seem to be and was enamored with Sahraa, and spent a lot of time petting her. As I mentioned to some people privately, I think maybe the people here are closet dog lovers ;-).

There is probably a lot of history in that house. Very nicely captured. V

Interesting how the demolition returns to sand. Love the Sahraa story - the dog diplomat :) V

It looks as though it has grown out of the desert I like the shadow cast by the trees. V

It looks ancient and probably is. It's the same color as the ground and was probably made from it. Vote.

cool behind-the-scenes view...this house seems eminently livable, and with some imagination, this street also has possibilities..

It looks like it grew out the ground. But those mud / adobe houses pretty much were built that way.

Nice crisp shot, the texture of the masonry is very clear. V

Great composition in this interesting scene! BV
I agree with you about they're being closet dog lovers; or maybe they just fall in love with Sahraa's beautiful features and personality! :)

great presentation of this subject matter. It resembles abode structures
in the US Southwest. V

Probably ripe for a renovation project, an excellent find and shot. Your commentary is very interesting also! V

I feel this is as things should be, hardly being able to tell the boundary between nature and construction

A great find, I do hope they restore them both, it would be a pity to have them replaced by 'Modern' structures as history would be lost forever.
