Vor Frue Kirke

Vor Frue Kirke (Church of Our Lady) is Copenhagen’s cathedral, with the current building dating from 1820. Our tour book made it look like the central aisle was literally made of gold, so we had to go see for ourselves. It wasn’t gold, and not even close, but the cathedral was lovely in an austere sort of way and was adorned with many sculptures by prominent Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen.

This certainly looks austere, but beautiful especially with the fine sculptures. Excellent shot and well presented. V

I agree with your 'austere' description, Lutheran I suppose and an interesting contrast to some of that Hungarian Baroque you used to post when posted there

A sober interior but very beautiful. I guess the statue in the middle is for baptising.
