There were long passageways like this running along the perimeter of two sides of the mosque complex. On the walls were a large number of ceramic panels, with each group representing a different era or area in Islamic history. I was fascinated with them, and they'll be the last part of this gallery, although now I'm seriously doubting I can finish it before we leave on holiday tomorrow night.
In my attempt to do that, though, I have uploaded quite a few images today of the exterior of the Grand Mosque.
