Shrine at the scene of tragedy

The tour guide told us that a boat had capsized in this underground lake at the turn of 20th century. Because of the high salt content of the water, the people on board were unable to swim below the sides of the boat to escape and ultimately suffocated. There are no more boats allowed in the mine.
