Ottawa West

A Beaver having lunch. Note the stump behind it, a victim of a Beaver Lumberjack, some years ago. Note also the receding ice. Presently there is only a small strip of open water along the south shore from which the Beavers access land.

I'm always amazed at the amount of trees taken down by beavers, but I've been convinced that they are an essential part of our landscape; really like how 'dark' this individual is - very well captured!
