With my Robin posting of yesterday, several people were wondering if the Robins, usually a harbinger of spring, had returned to our area already.
Actually for the past several years small flocks of robins have been overwintering here due to an abundance of berries for them to eat. These are one of a small flock of about 20 Robins found near my home. As you can see, it is quite plump, thus it is finding plenty of food - no worms though as they are still under a couple feet of snow and the ground is very much frozen. We've had one of the coldest winters here for some time; hence, it is surprising that they are still here.
