Two images of the now "BOSS" Buck, the same Buck that was wounded badly by poachers in 2010 see http://www.pbase.com/hankvv/image/130632082 )
Top image: The Buck seems startled for a moment by our presence as it comes out of the thick woods. Note the the thick brownish undergrowth. It is amazing the speed with which the Deer can travel through these woods. Take your eye off them for one moment and "voila" they are gone. In this instance, the Doe is somewhere behind us and it is time for us to take shelter behind a tree.
A closeup of The Boss. Note the moss and greenish bark residue on the antlers and forehead from the Buck rubbing and marking trees along the path of the chase.
