20121110 015 Barred Owls 1r1.jpg

My Backyard, well almost.

When I came home yesterday afternoon, a neighbour came running up and she said "hurry, get your camera, there is a big owl just down by the creek", its been there for more than an hour". As I had never before seen an Owl so close to our house, I hurried and sure enough the Owl was still there perched on a horizontal branch right above the creek. The sky had gotten overcast by that time, but I was able to get a few dozen shots before several Crows came along to harass the Owl and chase it off. ( see http://www.pbase.com/image/147252548 for yesterday's posting of this visitor)

This would be a dream come true for me....what great neighbors!!!!

Excellent shot! I know how hard they are to get. We have owls, but I have only once seen one briefly during the day and once at night. I did know that crows would harass them or that they would respond to it.

Nice sharp image Hank. An almost sad expression on the owl's face.
