Variously reported as a cattle fair or camel festival, the town of Nagaur hosts a livestock exchange for about two weeks in February. Buyers and sellers come from a wide area with camels, sheep, goats, cattle and horses. Camels were overwhellmingly the most abundant, reportedly numbering 30,000 to 40,000 over the span of the fair. Unlike the Pushkar Festival, Nagaur seemed to be all business with no entertainment or competitions during our two day stay. Very few tourists were evident, but almost all the women we saw were tourists!
