This is our newest garden bed that we had installed in 2016. There used to be a red oak in this spot but it had to be cut town due to oak wilt, so we had this unexpected sunny area. I think with a chemical free, native plant yard it's important to recognize, this is the first thing most people see. So I want it to be an understandable, accessible, and positive first impression. Not a weird looking out of control eyesore. We do live in a suburb, after all. And the more people who understand it, might learn to appreciate it. The more who appreciate, might be inspired to take action in their own yard. In this photo most of the plants haven't bloomed yet, but it still looks nice, well taken care of, and yard signs communicate the nature and purpose of the garden and what we are doing in the yard.
