There is a narrow area between the south facing side of the house and the south property line. This area used to be just dirt, sparse grass and weeds. Now it has a stepping stone path and a plants like little bluestem, prairie dropseed, purple prairie clover, butterfly weed, aster, prairie blazing star, etc. Most of these were purchased from Prairie Restorations. Further back in the photo are some taller plants like cupplant and milkweed, and various sedges that I ordered from Prairie Nursery. Continuing down along the neighbor's fence are some native shrubs like regent serviceberry, gray dogwood and common witch hazel. Around the corner of the house is the patio, which is a much more enjoyable place now that it's surrounded by a native garden instead of dirt and weeds.
