Interestingly, this is my third copy of the Contax 45mm f2.8 Tessar lens. The previous two were sold when I needed money for other stuff. Few weeks ago I saw another one attached to a Contax 137MA body for a reasonable price, I went for it.
Normally, I dislike standard lenses that's slower than f2. In fact, f1.8 is my minimum standard. Due to the Tessar design, which usually has a very small maximum aperture, this lens starts at f2.8. But, this little Tessar wonder is so small and thin that I can't help but over looked its rather small maximum aperture. Besides, using small aperture lens on the G1 is no longer a problem, as the viewfinder does not get dim when aperture gets smaller in reasonable light.
The G1 and the 45mm pancake is a great combo. Like most Tessar designs, the lens is pretty sharp, produces excellent colour and contrast. I hope it will stay with me much longer than the previous two copies.
