The Brookline Bird Club's "Extreme Pelagic" left Hyannis aboard the Helen H at 4 am on August 27 for a 17-hour cruise across Nantucket Shoals to the deep, warm water of Hydrographer and Veatch's Canyons on the edge of the continental shelf and back. We had good looks at several pelagic birds (and not so good looks at others), but the three species of dolphins stole the show. Thanks to Ida Giriunas, Rick Heil and Jeremiah Trimble for organizing and leading the trip.
A spectacular series of offshore photos. Your posts are always a delight to view. It must have been a great trip!

Glen, these photos are just marvelous. Your underwater shot of the bottlenosed dolphin is one of the more spectacular marine mammal photos I ever have seen. The pix of the Audubon's shearwater, band-rumped storm-petrel, Leach's storm-petrel and long-tailed jaeger can only make this old birder salivate. Thank you so much for sharing these treasures.
