Soldierness
More Christmas decorations are making their appearance in our household. This was one of those crummy weather days where we had enough snow to preclude taking photos outdoors (the flakes get trapped in mid flight and look like dust specs), but not enough to make anything really interesting.
A little something in LR2 on top of the Lensbabies'ness-ish' aspect of this image.

Projects
The cub scouts had their meeting at The Home Depot this morning, taking advantage of the monthly kid's projects that they put on the first Saturday of the month. After building the easel (which my son & daughter loved) we got to go learn about tools in the tools aisle. Some how, I was able to escape with only $20 in 'stuff' (much needed though).

The flannel sheets look more and more inviting as the outside temperature drops.

Birthday
My now 11-year-old daughter's birthday today.
While I have a lot of the "traditional" shots of her opening gifts, etc, it is this particular composition that I really liked for posting out here at least.

Murphy's Law
is spending $13 on assorted Resistors at Radio Shack, thinking "Where the heck are all my old resistors?" in the store, and "oh yeah, they are in the cellar" when I got home. . .

How I feel tonight
I am exhausted tonight. This shot came out just as I'd wanted it to (even though it was by accident ;)
I was screwing around with the camera taking odd SP's with flash & messing with the zoom. The flash didn't fire for this shot and it picked up the yellowish ambient lighting. It was also way underexposed, after pushing the exposure a lot (+1.5 stops) in LR2 to bring out some detail, it also brought out the noise which now looks like grain. I'm glad that nothing is in focus here, it adds to the mood.

Candle Lit
Had two birthday parties (sleep overs) this weekend, actually one is still going on. Tonight is my daughter's party, this is a candle lit shot from a little while ago. I was on the fence between this version and a color version with a much wider crop with a balloon in it. When I went to Black & White, the balloon just didn't cut it and needed to be cropped out. I liked this tighter shot better as it really focused on her and didn't include a noisy balloon part.

Let the sun shine through
We had a dreary morning/day with cold and rain for the most part. About 3PM [ish] the rain stopped, the clouds parted and the sun popped out. I decided to head out and try to make the most of this event. I packed up the car with plans of heading about 5-10 miles to the outskirts of our town. I made it about 100 yards down the street ("Woods is woods!").
