Milford Trek

In 2001 my brothers and I hiked the Milford Trek, one of the world's most renowned hikes. We hit the weather perfectly. Rain on day one, which produced snow at higher elevation and fed the water falls. Days 2-4 brought sunshine. And best of all: there were hardly any sand flies....

Great to see this gallery. My wife and I hiked it in the spring of 1979--a memory we will never forget. It rained about 3-4 inches on the long last day hike, making it very difficult to get across the streams. It was an intense and wonderful experience.

Bravo. Always love seeing a visitors pictures of NZ. Amazing you didn't get many sandflies - really amazing since you were in the area. No wild animals here, but we have the curse of the sandflies!

Who are theose young guys?? Thanks for the great shots of NZ, Markus. I',m always impressed with the steep mountains and clear waters whenever I see pictures of the Milford Trek! You did a good job with your negative scanner. The PooBah
