Whinny Hill (Volcanic Cone)

Whinny Hill, along with the now more distant Calton Hill, is part of the eroded remains of the original volcanic cone. Lava flows and ash from thirteen eruptions have been identified here, where the ground tilting and erosion have exposed lava outcrops with intervening valleys of compacted ash deposits.
