We hoped that the late cold front would cause a good fallout of birds and left for Grand Isle as my son pulled out of the driveway on his return to Illinois. The four-hour-roundtrip drive did not offer much. A chestnut-sided and yellow warbler, one rose-brested grosbeak, a few cuckoos, one grey catbird and a couple of small flocks red-eyed vireos were the only migrants we saw. We spent ten hours in the woods with a couple of other birders then headed home. My best photos were of butterflies and flowers.
