It's not unusual to have a very small number of great gray owls moving southward preceding or following an irruption winter (winter 2016-2017), the odd one can stay over for the summer. If you see more reports, then that's a different matter.
Another one showed up in the Quebec area. I'm not counting anything that is too far northward as it is expected they'll be found up there.
