The hawk owl flies down and then up to a perch. It's likely the hawk owl's way of coming to a soft landing or braking due to its fast flight speed. Also notice the thick feathers where the legs are. These feathers cover the legs for added warmth and protection from the cold when the owl is perched. A bird well-suited to its cold environment up in the boreal forest.
To the over 1,700 people who dropped by, thanks for visiting.
