According to a birder who contacted me, the Pelican was still around as of Sept. 1, Labour Day at 5pm.

Friday was overcast with gray skies, so I added a lot of positive Exposure Compensation for this white bird. Due to overcast conditions, I used the faster 70-200 2.8L lens and TC 1.4x thinking I'd need the extra speed. Turns out I could have used the longer 400 5.6L instead as my aperture was set at f/8 or so but ISO was at 800.
