hiatus

the band has been on forced hiatus for several months now, and the drummer, a dear friend for the last 25 years, has been calling to check in and wonder when we can resume jam sessions...he has a few tales of discrimination to tell, including as a boy being shot at on his way to school in Mississippi...what happened to George Floyd is shameful, and horrifying, and unfortunately continues racially motivated murders happening over centuries now...attitudes have to change, and simpletons have to smarten up

And a darned fine drummer he is. Quite the character from what I remember of the jam session many years ago.

A lovely portrait of your friend and hopefully the band can get together again. It's sad to think that children are still experiencing what he went through. V

I hope the band can get together soon. What an engaging presence he has. I wish discrimination was a thing of the past. It’s getting worse. V

A terrific candid portrait. His brilliant smile bespeaks a strong character and charismatic personality. When I consider the required changes in attitudes, etc., the term glacial pace comes to mind. Painfully slow but inexorable. Hope the band can be together again soon.

An excellent portrait of a fellow musician. What a fine smile.

quel beau portrait de votre ami ! il est tellement dommage que ce soit les sentiments de peur de l'autre qui domine le monde actuel ! alors qu'on devrait être ensemble pour réparer les dommages que nous avons créés et l'offrir intact à nos enfants ! v

Lovely shot of your friend whose expression exudes a lust for life. Perhaps slowly, by following your example, things will change, although I am pessimistic. V

A super image of your friend David. Getting together for a jam session would be great no doubt, but eliminating racism is in my view pie-in-the-sky. It unfortunately has been with us through out the ages and shows no sign of abating irrespective of all the rhetoric to that effect. Sorry to be so pessimistic.

Wonderful image but the story is heard over and over thru the decades. I doubt anything will change, especially
with so-called leaders fanning the flames....

Wonderful portrait of your friend who looks like Samuel L. Jackson.....the world should rise up against racism and police violence!

agree with Daniel, the populist leaders who are in power stir up hatred.
Great portrait of your friend, hopefully things will improve.

I fear that the world is getting worse and worse with all these populist leaders coming to power and stirring up hatred and fear as a huge economic crisis looms...

Thats a very fine portrait David. V

My thoughts are too entangling to comment on here. Suffice to say I am both sad and disgusted.
Raymond Ma05-Jun-2020 03:49
Well said. Hope the band can get its groove on again soon. V

Every time there is one of these awful tragedies of social injustice and the accompanying outrage and riots I think "Ok maybe this time it will change". Yet here we are. Same thing goes for gun violence and school shooting. I want to be optimistic but after seeing this same scene repeated over and over again I've come to thinks that they never will.

A fine portrait of your friend. We all have so much more in common that can bring us together,
then what keeps us apart.
Neil Marcus04-Jun-2020 18:45
He looks alive and well. Racism has been around for a few thousand years and unfortunately it appears to be endemic.
A good casual portrait, David. "VV"

Lovely portrait of your friend, hopefully things will improve but a change in leadership will be needed first..
Helen Betts04-Jun-2020 16:26
Great candid of your friend. I hope the sessions can resume soon, but I don't see much changing otherwise, sadly.
janescottcumming04-Jun-2020 16:19
A friendly and wonderful photo of your drummer. I'm sure all black men have harrowing tales they could tell. If only the world could change. Hope you can all start playing together again soon.

very nice portrait.V

Wonderful portrait of your friend David. I like his expressions and the settings.
I am confident attitudes will change over time, but simpletons will always be simpletons...
peterjay4504-Jun-2020 14:13
A fine photo of your longtime friend. Racism has no place in any society.
Dan Greenberg04-Jun-2020 14:10
The sad thing is that there are still too many people who have been brought up to hate and discriminate and mostly do not want to change fearing it will harm them somehow or make them lesser. It would be fun to get together for a jam session, I imagine.
