lame

Arches NP, Utah

a few years back made this lame attempt at capturing star trails...it was dark at the time, but clearly 68 seconds was not nearly long enough for the exposure, returning the sky to blue but not catching much by way of trails...on an imminent trip hoping for another crack at this...perhaps should try for at least 5 minutes at first, and adapt from there...maybe best to pack along a sandwich and a thermos of hot chocolate, just in case the exposure times get ridiculous

This is a very cool rock feature. I can see why you wanted to shoot the star trails with it. Good luck next time.

Impressive work with this long exposure. I like the moody effect. Actually prefer this to star trails. "V"

Ok the trails are little on the short side, but the shot is still so cool.

Nice try and a nice image even without the "trails." I have never tried it because my photo friends who do this are pretty much up all night so you definitely need that thermos of hot chocolate! ZZZ

amazing capture in this spectacular place.V.

It's beautiful in any case, trails or not. Maybe bringing something stronger along would help the trails to materialize.

Just to capture those stars is pretty amazing to me! The landform isn't too shabby either...
