sweetheart

a dash up a side street through a residential area in order to avoid traffic gridlock proved beneficial for almost ten seconds...then had to pull over and consider this little sweetheart of a vehicle, one of many 'oldies' that seem to pop up like mushrooms on local streets during summer weather

a bit of online nosing about revealed that this Morris Minor 1000, produced 1956-1971, with 948cc engine and 37hp, was always meant to be a safe and comfortable economy car...with a reported top speed of 73 mph (117 km/h), and a 0-60 record of 29.3 seconds, it was not exactly a drag race favourite, still reliable transport in the end

Nice capture of this bit of history. It looks like it's in real good shape and fun to drive (albeit slowly).

I had a 1968 one, by then they had 1098cc and a whopping 48bhp. A great little car, there are still quite a few in daily use.

A good looking example, I think the 0-60sec is academic as most after a while could barely reach 60mph.
We had a saloon one for a while back in the 70's

Super shot, David. A longtime neighbour many years ago would faithfully wash and polish his Morris each Sunday. It was his much pampered pride and joy.

Great shot. It looks like a color version of an old 1930s photo. V
