Olympic Peninsula, Washington

with so much rain, and a good dose of sunshine too, the Olympic Peninsula supports a plethora of plants...this cluster was spotted along the trail to Cape Flattery

in answer to a couple of questions, the prominent fungus may well be slime mould growing on shelf fungus...do not know precisely, but Christine certainly offers some insightful information

Superb shot of the varied growth on and near the big tree. Although I don't know west coast fungi all that well, this looks like a bracket fungus (a Polypore) in an advanced state of decay. Looking at the ones behind the (sword?) fern they look like Tinder Polypore. V
