subsiding

beside Hwy 270 between Pullman, Washington, and Moscow, Idaho

the Palouse is a successful agricultural area, yet older buildings still appear along the roads, some of them slowly subsiding into the rural landscape

this dilapidated barn was spotted along the short Pullman-Moscow Highway...there is no good place to stop here, but I did anyway

hard to resist a shot like this...even when you can't really pull over comfortably....I had a very business-like State trooper remind me of that once....but I'm happy you got it!....V

I'm glad you did, because this is a wonderful shot. The old building, slip-sliding away, is beautiful in its age and decay. VV

Makes me wonder if you just pulled one board out if the whole thing would tumble down. Terrific find and photo. V

Wow. You have quite the find here, David. I thought one of your previous posts showed the vapor that wasn't looking like it would be around much longer, but this one has it beat.

Sometimes you just have to stop or think what you missed forever.
From where you stood I can see a time warp of the barn raining, the hard work
of early morning start and late end to each day of a family eeking out their living.
Wonderful old barn.

God only knows, God makes his plan
The information's unavailable to the mortal man
We're working our jobs, collect our pay
Believe we're gliding down the highway, when in fact we're slip sliding away.
