The Lasqueti house.
Martha and her late husband, comic book illustrator Rand Holmes, lived here for more than twenty years. They built the house,
largly with hand tools and lumber milled from trees on the property. It is our refuge.
Lasqueti Island is in the middle of Georgia Strait between Vancouver Island where we live, and the mainland. There is no car ferry, no hydro, it is dark, quiet, and lush.
