This diner is run by students for students and the general public. We usual have dinner here after football games, wrestling matches and basketball meets. We learned the hard way during winter recess that the diner is closed, because most students and staffers are absent.
The name Henry refers to Col. Henry Rutgers, a philantropist from New York City. He played a big roll in developing the university into a solid institution. The university was founded in 1766 and was called Queens College. It was renamed in 1825 as much out of respect for the man as well as for the funds he contributed to it. Henry Rutgers 1745 - 1830.
